Let’s talk about the story of how God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.
When the two angels who were to destroy Sodom arrived at the city, Lot was sitting outside the city gate.
When he saw them, he ran, bowing before them.
He said, please come and spend the night at my house,
In the morning you can go on your way.
They two angels said to him;
No, we will spend the night in the city square.
Lot kept urging them, and they finally agreed to stay with him.
Lot prepared a meal for them, and they ate.
Before they went to bed, the men of Sodom came over and surrounded Lot’s home.
They said, where are those men who came to spend the night with you.
Bring them out; the Men of Sodom want to have sex with them.
Lot pleaded on their behalf.
He said; don’t do this wickedness to my guest.
I have two virgin daughters; you can have them and do whatever you wish to them.
The said to him;
Get out of our way, who are you to tell us what to do.
Else we will treat you worse than them.
They pushed him aside and headed to break the door.
The two guests reached out to Lot, drew him inside, and struck the men with blindness.
The Angel commanded Lot to Leave Sodom.
The Angels said to Lot,
You must leave this city with your household because we are going to destroy it
The Lord has heard a terrible accusation against them and has sent us to destroy them
Lot went to the men who were to marry his daughters and he told them
the Lord is going to destroy the city, please hurry and leave this city,
but they thought he was joking.
The two men (Angels) urge Lot to leaves.
At dawn, the angels tried to make him leave quickly,
Take your wife, daughter, and household and leave this place else you will lose your lives.
Lot hesitated.
The Lord had mercy on him; they took him and his wife and daughters by the hand and led them out of the city.
One of the angels said;
Run for your lives, don’t look back until you get to the hill so that you won’t die
Lot said, please don’t do this;
The hill is too far; the disaster will overtake us and kill us before we get there.
Lot said, look over there,
It’s a small town, let me go over there, and I will be safe.
The Angel agreed and said Hurry up to the small town.
I will not destroy it.
I can’t do anything until you get there
The town is called Zoar because Lot called it small.
Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah
The Sun was rising when Lot got to Zoar.
Suddenly the Lord rained burning sulfur on the city and destroyed it.
But Lot’s wife looked back, and she turned to a pillar of salt.
Early next morning, Abraham hurried where he had stood in the presence of the Lord.
He looked down Sodom and Gomorrah and saw everything burnt down and smoke rising from the land.
The Lord kept Lot alive because he had Abraham in mind
